Market Background
In the food packaging market, products such as pickles, fermented vegetables, coffee powder, and roasted coffee-related ingredients often require reliable sealing performance while still allowing controlled gas release. Pickle products may continue to generate gas during storage or transportation, while coffee powder packaging can face pressure changes caused by residual gas, temperature variation, and long-distance shipping. If the package is completely sealed without venting, the aluminum foil lid may bulge, deform, leak, or affect the customer’s opening experience.
For food brands and packaging manufacturers, the challenge is to maintain sealing, freshness, shelf appearance, and pressure balance at the same time. This is why breathable aluminum foil easy-peel lids with adhesive backed vent membranes are becoming a practical solution for modern food packaging.
Customer and Application Scenario
We supplied adhesive backed vent membranes for a food packaging customer producing breathable aluminum foil easy-peel lids for pickle jars and coffee powder containers. The lids were designed for plastic and composite packaging containers where pressure equalization was required, but liquid leakage, powder contamination, and seal failure had to be avoided.
The customer needed a venting solution that could be applied to aluminum foil lids efficiently during production, without changing the main lid structure. The membrane also needed to be suitable for food packaging use, with stable adhesion, clean appearance, and consistent air permeability.
Our Solution
XINXIA provided customized adhesive backed breathable membrane die-cut pieces for the customer’s aluminum foil easy-peel lid system. The membrane was laminated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, making it easy to attach to the designed venting area of the aluminum foil lid.
The breathable membrane allows internal gas to escape slowly, helping reduce package swelling and pressure build-up. At the same time, the hydrophobic and microporous structure helps block liquid splashing, dust, and external contamination. For pickle packaging, it supports gas release during storage and transportation. For coffee powder packaging, it helps improve package stability and reduce deformation risk caused by pressure difference.
Key Technical Parameters
Customer Feedback
After testing, the customer reported that the breathable aluminum foil lids showed better package stability during storage and shipment. The pickle packaging had less swelling, while the coffee powder containers maintained a cleaner and more professional appearance. The adhesive backed design also helped simplify production, because the membrane could be applied quickly without complicated secondary processing.
The customer especially valued the customized die-cut size, stable adhesion, and consistent venting performance, which helped improve both packaging safety and end-user experience.
Summary
This project shows how an adhesive backed vent membrane can improve the performance of breathable aluminum foil easy-peel lids for pickle and coffee powder packaging. By combining controlled venting, hydrophobic protection, and easy application, XINXIA helped the customer reduce package bulging, improve transportation safety, and enhance product presentation.
For food packaging manufacturers looking for breathable sealing solutions, XINXIA can provide customized vent membrane materials, die-cut shapes, adhesive structures, and technical support based on different packaging containers and filling products.
